MAINTENANCE TIPS

Welcome to the AM Management maintenance page.

Below are some helpful tips that may help when a minor maintenance issue occurs.

  • The toilet is overflowing:

    • First, shut the water off to the toilet.
    • The water shut off is located behind the toilet on the wall.
    • Turn the valve to the right to prevent additonal water to flow to the toilet.
  • The toilet is clogged:

    • Plunge the toilet with a plunger.
    • Be sure the first plunge is gentle.  Air will be in the bell of the plunger which will cause the water in the toilet to splash.
    • Once the air is out, plunge vigourously and be sure to maintain the seal between the toilet and the plunger.
  • I have no electricity in a room:

    • Check the breaker box.
    • This is usually located on the wall, behind a bedroom door.
    • Open the box to view the breakers.
    • If one is swithed to the left, move it to the right.
    • Check the outlets for electricity as well which is below.
  • My outlet doesn't work/no electricity to an outlet:

    • This may happen after a breaker is tripped or off.
    • Check the GFI.
    • Press the RESET button on the GFI (on the outlet).  It will be at the top and sometimes in Red.
  • The garbage disposal is stuck:

    • This can be caused by a buildup of food in the disposal.
    • ONLY when the disposal is turned off, or unplugged, try to clear the clog with your hand.
    • You can also press the RESET button on the bottom of the disposal.
  • The blinds do not open

Some units have cordless mini blinds on the window and some units have a pull cord.

    Cordless:

Open the blind slats by turning the wand right or left. It is located on the top right or left side of the blind.

It is easier to open and close the blind if they are open and prevents the slats from breaking.

Gently pull down or lift up the rail at the bottom of the blind.

    Corded:

Open the blind slat by using the wand as stated above.

Pull the cord down to raise the blinds.

Pull the string down at a 45 degree angle to close the blinds.

    Patio Blinds:

The patio blinds are all controlled using the hand wand located to the left or right of the window and blinds.

Rotate the wand to the right or left to open and close the blind slats.

Before fully opening the blinds to reveal more of the window or to use the patio door, be sure the blinds are all facing the same direction.

If the blinds are open to reveal light, it will be easier to pull the hand wand and open the blinds fully.
